Peace Talks: Optimism for eventual negotiations between the Government and the Farc
After confirmation of a possible start of peace talks between the Government and the Farc guerrillas, different  parties signalled approval of the negotiations.

Former president Ernesto Samper said the peace talks need a clear objective and he also called on the negotiations to be discreet, fast, and without any showmanship.

“The Law of Victims, the Law of Land Restitution of the current president have created a favorable environment to talk about changes that need to be made going forward..."

Despite the voices of reconciliation, former president Álvaro Uribe, expressed his disagreement saying "this is a respectable democracy and the only negotiation with terrorists is bringing them to justice. Colombians are not ready to see guerrilla leaders as candidates. This is an offense to democracy.”
