Hollande sees intervention as "legitimate" if Syria uses chemical arms
The French president has called on the Syrian opposition to “create a provisional government” and has stated France would recognize it.
French President François Hollande believes the use of chemical arms could be a “legitimate cause for direct intervention” in Syria, following a line drawn last week by US President Barack Obama.
In a speech to French ambassadors at the Elysée Palace where he outlined broad strokes of his foreign policy, the president also called on the Syrian opposition "to form a provisional government," which he would recognize as a "legitimate representative" of the country.
